Beef Jerky

by Lizzy W   |   June 1, 2014   |   7 Comments

I got a dehydrator!!!  My mind has been racing too fast with all the ideas I have of things I want to dehydrate – so fast that I haven’t been able to sit down and actually do it, but finally I did!  This has to be the most simple recipe ever, but you will be amazed at how great it is.  There really is nothing better than home-made jerky.  Well, maybe a few things but this recipe is really amazing, trust me.

Jerky

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Beef Sirloin Top Steak or I love to use London broil (costs about $5-$6 dollars) (or any kind of skirt, flank, or top steak)
  • 1/4 cup and 1 tbsp BBQ Bath Brine Concentrate, smoked habanero flavor
  • 2 tbsp. Jerky Seasoning (consists of salt, smoke, garlic powder, sugar, spices, turmeric, paprika…)

Directions:

  • Cut the meat into strips.  Place the meat into a ziploc bag and pour all the seasonings in.  Shake the bag and distribute all the seasonings on the meat and place it in the fridge.  Marinate the meat AT LEAST 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  • When the meat is done marinating, pat it dry.  Place the jerky strips in the dehydrator and set it to 160 degrees.  Let the jerky dehydrate for 4 hours, or until dry to the touch.
  • Pat the jerky dry once its out of the dehydrator, and eat up!!!!

***** Add some rosemary in the seasoning for an extra kick!

Confession: Beef jerky is my breakfast most mornings. I would love to invest in my own dehydrator and make my own, saving me a lot of money in the long run and removing so many nitrates from my life. Pinning for later!

[…] In honor of one of my favorite weekend activities, dehydrating jerky and other goodness, I am giving away the amazing Nesco Dehydrator!  I am obsessed with my dehydrator because there are endless things you can do with it.  I love to take peppers or herbs that are about to go bad and dehydrate them to lengthen the shelf time (when I’m feeling productive).  My recipes for dehydrated peppers are here, and my amazing jerky is here.  […]
