2 loaves of angel food cake, cut into 1 inch squares
2 16 oz. containers of strawberries (each strawberry cut in half or quarters)
2 16 oz. containers of blueberries
1 can of whipped cream, or fresh whipped cream
For the lemon glaze:
1¾ cup confectioners sugar
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
1 Tbsp. salted butter, melted
Instructions
Begin by making the lemon glaze. Combine the confectioners sugar, butter, and lemon juice. Mix together with a fork until combined with no lumps. Cover and set aside.
You can assemble the trifle in any order you like, but this is my suggestion. In a large trifle bowl, first place a layer of the angel food at the bottom. Drizzle slightly with the lemon glaze, then top with a layer of strawberries and blueberries. Then, spread a layer of whipped cream on top of the fruit. Place another layer of the angel food cake, drizzle with glaze, add layer again with strawberries and blueberries. Drizzle more lemon glaze on top and serve!
You can make this a day or two ahead of time and it keeps very well! Just be sure to cover with saran wrap and refrigerate.
